I recently downloaded and compiled Code Crusader for the Linux half of my Linux/Win98 floppy-less dual boot system, and I had to write you about this wonderful piece of software.
The user interface is clean, fresh, and appropriate. Where there are icons, the icons are meaningful and/or configurable. The menu items have proper accompaniment, and are organized in a logical fashion. The methods it uses to interface with external utilities and programs is stable, informative, and configurable. The code editor (and optional lack thereof) is a joy to use, and the default meta-keys are familiar and simple to remember.
The overall layout of Code Crusader made me laugh today -- not a laugh of derision, no, but a laugh that expressed my humble joy that there are people who still remember what it's like to write clean software.
It is usually days after downloading other atrocious pieces of software that I delete them from my hard drive, swearing, cursing the programmers involved, vowing to never touch another piece of their software as long as I could possibly sustain myself without it. Sadly this happens all to often.
After using Code Crusader, Code Medic, and associated utilities, though, my faith has been restored -- there really is hope for an integrated environment that's quick and doesn't crash my computer every two hours!
Thank you for making this available to me. Thank you very much. You'll make my software development a lot easier to manage, and my life will be that tiny bit simpler for a good while.
