Version 3 of the XDND Drag-And-Drop protocol is finished.  The protocol is
described at

The relatively minor changes are described in the change log at the bottom
of this web page.

This protocol is now supported by JX, Qt, and GTK+, so programs written for
Gnome, programs written for KDE, and programs like Code Crusader and Arrow
will all be able to work together on the same desktop.

The related file dragging protocol described at

    http://www.cco.caltech.edu/~jafl/xdnd/dragging_files.html

will allow compliant programs to accept drops from both the Gnome and KDE
file managers.
