Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The widget has stopped working! How do I fix this?

First, make sure you are running the latest version. Then log out and back in again. If that doesn't work, try deleting the file ~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.newplanetsoftware.widget.comic.plist

How do I add comics to the Favorites list?

Select a comic from the Catalog list and click the Show button. The widget will flip over, show the comic, and add it to the Favorites list.

How do I add a comic that is not in the catalog?

The easiest way is to email me the link to the web page displaying the latest comic. I will then try to add it to the catalog.

If you understand how to read HTML and how to construct Regular Expressions, then flip the widget over and fill in the Comic URL and Pattern fields in the lower, right corner to specify how to extract the URL of the <img> from the web page. Then click the Show button.

Some comics are very tall, so the bottom disappears off the bottom of my screen. How do I fix this?

Create the file ~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.newplanetsoftware.widget.comic.prefs and put the following inside it:
window_size.max_height = 860
Make sure you save the file as plain text!

Then change 860 to a value less than the vertical resolution of your monitor. For example, if your monitor's resolution is 800x600, you could use 550. You can find your monitor's resolution in the System Preferences application by clicking Displays (under Hardware).
